A New England-based percussionist, educator, and ethnomusicologist specializing in the musical traditions of West Africa, the Arab World, and the Americas. He has conducted fieldwork in Ghana and holds advanced degrees in Jazz Pedagogy and Musicology. Joe performs widely with jazz, Arab, and African ensembles, and his work blends performance, scholarship, and cultural exchange. His debut method book, Rhythms of the Levant: A Derbake Primer, is set for release in 2026.
